Custom designed summer homes for two different clients.

Anapoima, a town near the city of Bogotá, has a dry and warm climate year-round. The lots were located on a lush south-facing mountain. The designs were informed by the shape of the terrain, desired views, and by a careful study of social and private areas in relationship to sun exposure. 

 

The houses feature reflective roofing and paint to prevent heat gain from the exposed surfaces. No air conditioning units were installed; the indoor areas are ventilated via electric fans and cross-ventilation strategies. Trees were planted around the houses in strategic locations to provide shade and a self-contained septic tank system was installed for drainage.
